Tasting Notes from George Bato of The Wine Shop
"I had this wine in a glass for about 4 hours last Tuesday, and I was struck by the evolution of this Cab into a luscious, black fruit-laden wine. Deep, dark ruby in color, the aromatics are effusive and portend of things to come. Aromas are of black currant, cassis, violets, cedar and earth. These nuances follow through on the palate with expansive flavors of black cherry liqueur, dark plums, a hint of pencil lead, chocolate and dusty (think Rutherford dust) yet silky tannins that lead to a finish that lasts at least 30 seconds. Approachable now with decanting, this wine should age well for at least another decade. The 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec and 5% Petite Verdot add complex layers and nuance. This is by far the best Holloway Cab produced. It is one of my favorite Cabs of the year."

Tasting notes from Mark Marino of the Winery Times
"Tasting the wine is a real pleasure. It is very much like some other hillside Cabernet that goes for much more money. It has a lot of complex fruit up front and the oak is in balance which to me indicates it will age well.... We tasted the '02, '03 and '04. The '02 is holding well, balanced with no indication of age. Its fruit is a little more subdued compared to the '03 which seems to just be a bigger vintage. The '04 has even more fruit than the '03 but has not opened up completely. It may end up being the best of the three vintages but it seems to still need a little more bottle age to completely open. The consistency of these three vintages and similarity in fruit and balance is a tribute to the wine maker and his ability to produce the wine year after year."
